About the Role
Sompo has a unique opportunity for a Senior Assumed Reinsurance Technician in our Assumed Reinsurance team, which primarily deals with inwards Proportional business. This position reports to the Assistant Vice President, Assumed Reinsurance Accounting Supervisor.
Responsibilities
- Manage inbox, ensuring task completion within agreed timeframes and liaising with other processing staff.
- Produce and analyze weekly, monthly, and quarterly reports as part of the close process, identifying and resolving anomalies.
- Collaborate with internal and external clients, including Underwriters, Brokers, Cedants, Claims, IT, Operations, Finance, and Credit Control, to resolve queries or technical issues.
- Ensure up-to-date knowledge of new systems and procedures and provide training when requested.
- Collaborate with the Claims Department on Inward Proportional treaty claims, including event tracking.
- Amend UW risks in the system as directed, such as adding sliding scale templates.
- Participate in projects to enhance systems and ongoing processes, seeking efficiencies.
- Provide resolutions to processing queries raised by team members.
- Undertake technical analysis and processing responsibilities for complex Inward Proportional & Non-Proportional treaties.
- Process tasks and necessary accounts accurately and efficiently within agreed timeframes.
- Review and check the accuracy of closings/documents of rendered accounts, cash calls, premium and loss reserve deposits, and event claims management and tracking.
- Review Lead LIRMA agreements for query/agreement via Brokers.
- Demonstrate high attention to detail by producing exceptional quality and accurate technical data into the Underwriting system, ensuring timely updates with accounting and payment information.
- Timely investigation and resolution of challenging accounts.
- Collaborate with colleagues, including participation in meetings when required.
- Provide requested documentation following audit requests.
- Understand and process LOC/OCA as necessary.
- Perform ad hoc tasks as directed by your manager.
Requirements
- Strong technical skills and ability to prioritize workload to meet deadlines.
- Understanding of general insurance and reinsurance principles is essential.
- Understanding and review of profit commission/sliding scale calculations is essential.
- Understanding of complex accounts such as clean-cut accounts (portfolio in and out) is essential.
- Understanding of Proportional Treaty claim handling and event claims is essential.
- Intermediate Excel skills are essential (Pivot tables & VLOOKUP formula).
