About the Role

The Global Head of Business Operations (GHBO) will serve as a strategic partner and advisor, leading the integrated management of the Office of the COO within State Street Investment Management (SSIM). This role coordinates business management, strategic execution, Finance Technology, and organizational transformation across the global COO organization, reporting directly to the COO.

Responsibilities

Partner with the COO to set strategic and operational objectives aligned with SSIM priorities, ensuring the COO organization meets or exceeds financial and performance benchmarks and key performance indicators.
Track performance, identify variances, issues, and dependencies, and work with the COO leadership team to develop and execute corrective actions and delivery plans.
Build strong relationships across the COO executive leadership team and the broader organization to advance strategic initiatives.
Identify and implement process improvements and organizational optimization opportunities.
Drive the development and production of productivity and efficiency metrics, business scorecards, and executive reporting.
Lead the COO quarterly business review process, ensuring timely completion of agreed actions.
Serve as a key member of the COO leadership team, shaping meeting agendas, coordinating follow-up, and ensuring effective information flow.
Represent the COO on relevant IM regional and global operating committees.
Coordinate and manage projects, initiatives, and commitments tied directly to the COO’s key priorities.
Maintain an inventory of critical-path initiatives, provide visibility into progress and risks, and promote alignment across departments.
Co-lead with Finance the annual COO strategic investment prioritization process aligned with the budget process.
Identify issues, dependencies, and resource constraints affecting strategic priority execution; escalate matters requiring COO attention and present solutions.
Lead confidential, time-sensitive, and special projects assigned by the COO.
Partner with the Transformation team on SSIM and COO initiatives that drive operational efficiency and improve the client and employee experience.
Partner with the CEO’s Office and SSIM Finance on the annual budget and mid-year forecast.
Manage routine budget requests and issues, develop operating metrics and dashboards, and establish regular operational reviews.
Partner with Corporate Strategy, the COO leadership team, and SSIM Finance on strategic plan development and off-cycle adjustments.
Own the strategy, operating model, and multi-year roadmap for the Finance Technology team supporting SSIM Finance, investment funds, and the broader SSIM business.
Lead and develop the Finance Technology team, establishing clear accountabilities, delivery priorities, capacity plans, and ways of working.
Translate business priorities into scalable technology capabilities and an integrated delivery portfolio.
Oversee technology capabilities supporting financial planning and analysis, management reporting, revenue and expense management, profitability, fund financial data, product and fund economics, and business performance analytics.
Establish and govern the Finance Technology portfolio, including demand intake, prioritization, investment cases, resource allocation, delivery milestones, benefits realization, and executive reporting.
Drive modernization and simplification of finance platforms, data flows, and reporting processes.
Define the Finance Technology architecture and data strategy, promoting reusable data products, disciplined integration, and consistent financial information.
Own relationships with strategic technology vendors and service providers supporting finance capabilities.
Ensure finance technology delivery aligns with enterprise technology standards, information security requirements, data governance expectations, and applicable financial and fund-reporting obligations.
Serve as the senior technology partner to the IM Finance leadership team, providing transparent portfolio reporting, decision support, and proactive escalation of delivery issues, dependencies, and trade-offs.
Define and execute the COO communications strategy, articulating a compelling vision, strengthening employee engagement, and reinforcing key messages.
Coordinate and develop executive materials for presentations, town halls, client meetings, industry engagements, and other strategic forums.
Develop and execute employee engagement action plans.
Lead change management and organizational transformation efforts.

Requirements

At least 10 years of progressive executive leadership experience spanning strategy, global program or portfolio execution, and people management.
Demonstrated success leading and developing high-performing, cross-organizational teams in a complex global environment.
Significant experience leading technology, finance transformation, or finance systems teams and delivering complex multi-year change.
Experience leading the transformation of a complex global organization to a product operating model, including the redesign of organizational structures, roles, accountabilities, financial planning and funding, operating processes, governance, and enabling tools.
Demonstrated experience enabling agile delivery through multidisciplinary product teams and translating strategic priorities into measurable customer, business, and operational outcomes.
Experience leading enterprise AI-enabled transformation, including embedding AI into business processes and workflows, driving adoption and organizational readiness, and realizing improvements in efficiency, quality, and operational risk reduction.
Investment management experience required.
Experience supporting investment management finance and fund-related technology capabilities strongly preferred.
International experience preferred.
