About the Role

We’re seeking a Product Owner to support the design and delivery of the wealth experience within NYL360, New York Life’s connected digital experience for the field. You will own the effort to ensure wealth is prominently represented, thoughtfully designed, and easy to understand within the platform, supporting New York Life’s goal of Protection Powered Growth. This role involves transforming how advisors sell, service, and manage wealth business daily.

Responsibilities

  • Partner with Design to turn high-level epics into working prototypes in place of traditional requirements documentation.
  • Define and codify “what good looks like” for wealth products and tools, including advisor needs, business rules, data requirements, and access.
  • Refine stories from prototypes into clear scope and acceptance criteria for engineering.
  • Keep the backlog ready for weekly sprint planning.
  • Work in partnership with Design, Engineering, Data & Testing teams with fewer handoffs than traditional delivery models.
  • Work directly with advisors, wealth product partners, and other field stakeholders to validate workflows and gather feedback.
  • Flag dependencies, risks, and open decisions early, particularly where wealth processes intersect with legacy systems or life insurance workflows.
  • Participate in weekly sprint planning, stand-ups, demos, and retrospectives.
  • Answer questions and close requirement gaps in the moment so development keeps moving on a one-week cycle.
  • Use AI tools in your own product work.
  • Track sprint commitments, follow-ups, and open items, and own closing them out.
  • Capture decisions and trade-offs as they happen.
  • Build test scenarios based on real advisor wealth workflows and business use cases.
  • Validate delivered functionality in the QA environment, document defects, and confirm resolutions.
  • Contribute to communications, demos, and release documentation for new wealth capabilities.
  • Support pilots and phased releases, gather feedback, and translate it into product improvements.
  • Sort feedback and production issues into usability concerns, defects, enhancements, and maintain backlog items.

Requirements

  • Experience in product ownership, digital delivery, or a related role preferred.
  • Strong ability to translate user feedback and operational pain points into a clear direction, and to carry it through delivery.
  • Comfort working with cross-functional teams in a complex environment with legacy systems and evolving processes.
  • Familiarity with Agile methodology and tools such as Jira preferred.
  • Uses AI tools in day-to-day work and looks for ways to apply them across product, design, and delivery.
  • Strong attention to detail around data accuracy, business rules, and role-based requirements.
  • Understanding of wealth management products, processes, or the advisor/agent experience is a plus.
  • Bias for progress; owns follow-ups, closes gaps, and finds a practical path forward when the answer is not obvious.
  • Decisive; comfortable making calls with the information available and adjusting as the product evolves.
  • Collaborative; co-creates and iterates with Product, Design, Technology, Data, and field partners.
  • Open to a different way of working; comfortable trading heavy documentation for short cycles and working prototypes.
  • Requires FINRA licensed and/or FINRA Associated Person pre-hire fingerprinting.
