About the Role
As a Liberty Mutual equipment breakdown underwriter, you will help build a fast-growing business by developing, growing, and maintaining a profitable book of business through marketing, underwriting decisions, and strong agent and broker relationships. You will also guide and mentor less experienced underwriters.
Responsibilities
- Review, rate, and underwrite business applications, determining premium, terms, and conditions.
- Build and maintain strong relationships with agents and brokers through responsive service and understanding their customers' businesses.
- Analyze portfolios, identify growth opportunities, and execute marketing plans to increase market share.
- Document files clearly, ensuring compliance with state regulations and underwriting guidelines.
- Mentor and coach underwriters and account analysts on technical and professional skills.
- Participate in problem-solving activities and use continuous-improvement tools.
Requirements
- Intermediate-level knowledge of insurance products/coverage, underwriting, pricing, risk selection, market segments, and marketplace.
- Knowledge of insurance finance and actuarial concepts, loss control/risk engineering, marketing techniques, regulatory environment, and reinsurance.
- Advanced-level knowledge of territory management.
- Ability to apply underwriting appetite, tools, systems, and resources to achieve goals.
- Ability to solve complex problems.
- Ability to establish and build healthy working relationships.
- Ability to participate in mentoring relationships.
- Ability to negotiate.
- Related bachelor’s degree.
- Two to seven years of relevant experience preferred.
- CPCU or professional insurance designation preferred.
