About the Role

Everytown for Gun Safety is seeking a Director of Email and SMS Campaigns to manage a team of digital campaigners. This role will provide strategy and execution for state and national campaigns using email and broadcast SMS to engage supporters. The ideal candidate is energetic, entrepreneurial, and ready to grow the team’s digital campaign skills while contributing to the fight to end gun violence.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee a team of digital campaigners who manage all regional and national email and SMS campaigns.
  • Grow direct reports’ digital strategy, project management, people management, and communication skills through regular check-ins and coaching.
  • Lead a weekly team meeting for campaign strategy, messaging, and team process collaboration.
  • Provide solutions-oriented feedback to organizational leaders on improving campaign planning and internal processes.
  • Monitor and report on email and SMS campaign performance, recommending optimizations.
  • Collaborate with leadership to develop ambitious goals and creative strategies for engagement and supporter-centric campaigns.
  • Lead cross-department coordination with Support Growth and Cultivation, identifying collaboration opportunities.
  • Maintain a culture of learning, experimentation, and iteration across all channels.
  • Seek out and share new practices and learnings from within and outside the organization.
  • Partner with Data and Field teams to create integrated user journeys and segmentation strategies.
  • Leverage lapsed data to identify growth opportunities and re-engage supporters.
  • Coordinate the creation and dissemination of digital content for priority campaigns and mobilizations.
  • Respond with flexibility and responsiveness to urgent, time-sensitive moments, occasionally requiring work outside standard hours.

Requirements

  • 4+ years of digital advocacy or digital organizing work for political campaigns or non-profit groups.
  • 1+ year(s) of management experience.
  • Excellent planning skills with the ability to work across multiple teams and campaigns under tight deadlines.
  • Experience leading national campaigns and a track record of successfully increasing digital engagement.
  • Deep commitment to testing, reporting, and analyzing results.
  • Ability to communicate on complex policy in an inclusive and digestible way.
