About the Role
The Executive Chef (EC) is a multi-unit culinary leader responsible for the success of multi-unit café operations, ensuring the delivery of an innovative Food Program. The EC collaborates with various cross-functional teams and acts as an ambassador for the Food Program.
Responsibilities
- Deliver delicious, high-quality meals and engaging guest experiences.
- Foster talent development and training within culinary teams.
- Manage workplace and food safety standards.
- Oversee financial management, including food and labor costs, to meet budgetary expectations.
- Drive diverse and inclusive associate engagement.
- Display comprehensive leadership and accountability.
- Participate in client and company initiatives, including menu planning and recipe development.
- Act as a role model and inspire culinary teams.
- Implement strategies and process improvements for necessary change management.
- Hold teams accountable for accurate and high-quality work.
- Use preferred development and mentoring techniques.
- Communicate honestly and accurately with all stakeholders.
- Recognize and reward individual and team achievements.
- Encourage and support culinary associate development, including performance reviews and coaching.
- Drive associate participation in job-related training.
- Cultivate an inclusive and diverse team culture.
- Guide onboarding processes and support HR in interviews.
- Direct teams to meet and exceed Core Performance Expectations.
- Ensure compliance with company programs, procedures, and philosophies.
- Create balanced cycle menus that meet client needs.
- Oversee café operations, including pre- and post-food production processes.
- Ensure cafés use and follow recipes for high-quality meals.
- Monitor daily TASTE procedures and protocols.
- Ensure accurate food descriptions, including allergies and sensitivities.
- Lead teams in efficiency and accuracy using Mobius and Webrition.
- Present 'Daily Tens' meetings effectively.
- Coordinate work efforts with other teams and departments.
- Support the development and implementation of new concepts and programs.
- Provide support for catering, cafés, and new builds/renovations.
- Report and collaborate on equipment repair and maintenance.
- Ensure teams work within budget while maintaining program standards.
- Manage and monitor labor, food, and operation costs.
- Maximize the use of company tools and systems for optimal performance.
- Lead teams in placing proper orders and sourcing local/seasonal foods.
- Create work efficiencies and leverage GPAK integration for cost savings.
- Contribute to quarterly equipment replacement needs (CAPEX).
- Ensure workplace safety standards are consistently met.
- Collaborate with Workplace Safety Manager on program adherence and training.
- Ensure food safety standards are consistently met, including allergen management.
- Collaborate with Food Safety Manager on program adherence and training.
- Report injuries, accidents, and/or foodborne illnesses accurately and timely.
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years’ culinary supervisory experience in a high-volume, quality food service establishment.
- Highly developed culinary skills with comfort in traditional, modern, and multi-ethnic cuisines.
- Ability to create new, innovating, and exciting dishes within guidelines.
- Proven track record in leadership, including coaching and teaching skills.
- Ability to proactively solve problems and work independently or in teams effectively.
- Proven ability to manage budgets, utilize reporting platforms, and meet financial goals.
- Ability to effectively communicate, motivate, and interact with all levels within the organization.
- Proficient in computer and technical skills, working knowledge of Google Suite programs.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality.
- Ability to read, regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds and may occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
- Ability to push and pull carts weighing up to 100 pounds.
- Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, color vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
