About the Role
Manages all branch activities, ensuring the success of the operating model including customer and employee experience, digital engagement, transactions, servicing, and sales. This role includes personal production responsibility.
Responsibilities
- Responsible for overall profitability by directing sales and business development, meeting operational objectives, and ensuring the branch achieves its annual goals.
- Leads team through coaching, performance management, and setting priorities; builds and develops branch staff.
- Identifies customer needs through sales processes and assists customers with solutions.
- Proactively prospects and grows Business Banking relationships through outreach and builds the bank’s presence in the community.
- Conducts interviews and selects employees based on the staffing model.
- Models and coaches customer service and needs determination behaviors, reinforcing accountability for Retail strategy execution.
- Ensures operational requirements and compliance with consumer and business banking guidelines, operational, security, and control policies/procedures.
- Takes ownership of complex account servicing and error resolution issues, providing coaching to reduce future escalations.
- Engages with team members and business partners as appropriate.
- Independently processes Business Banking loan requests up to $100,000 and bundles products and services.
- Adheres to compliance and operational risk controls.
- Promotes an environment that supports a culture of belonging and reflects the M&T Bank brand.
- Maintains internal control standards, including timely implementation of audit points and addressing issues raised by regulators.
- Completes other related duties as assigned.
- Exercises managerial authority concerning staffing, performance appraisals, promotions, salary recommendations, performance management, and terminations.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or four (4) years of relevant experience.
- Minimum three years sales experience.
- Minimum two years managerial experience or proven leadership abilities.
- Life/Accident and Health Insurance licensing required within 18 months of entry into position (training provided).
- M&T Business Banking Specialist certification within 18 months of hire.
- Demonstrated strong knowledge of Business Banking products, services, and client relationship management.
- M&T Way Certified.
- Precision Leadership Certified.
- Work with common PC software, including Microsoft Office.
- Experience with Internet and email preferred.
