About the Role
The Manager, Awards and Rankings plays a key role in the firm’s PR and Communications team, responsible for raising the profile of the firm and its lawyers through strategic participation in legal directories, surveys, and awards. This hybrid position reports to the firm’s Director, Public Relations and Communications.
Responsibilities
- Elevate the firm’s profile by leading awards- and rankings-focused initiatives within the PR and communications team.
- Develop compelling nominations for awards and recognition opportunities for the firm, practice groups, lawyers, and clients.
- Oversee the firm’s strategy and participation in industry, workplace, and regional surveys, collaborating with firm management on responses.
- Act as a strategic advisor to firm leadership on legal directory, survey, and award opportunities.
- Interview lawyers to identify compelling narratives and differentiators for nominations.
- Manage an awards-focused editorial calendar across publications, maintaining a strategic pipeline of opportunities.
- Lead the firm’s employee engagement survey strategy, including data analysis and presenting insights to leadership.
- Prepare lawyers for interviews with legal directory and survey researchers.
- Support publicity for legal directory rankings and award recognition across firm channels.
- Manage the firm’s submission strategy and research schedule for legal directories, partnering with business development leadership.
- Contribute to broader marketing and communications initiatives as needed.
- Coordinate participation in award events, managing logistics for finalists and winners.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and at least eight years of relevant experience in public relations, corporate communications, marketing, or a related field.
- Strong judgment and attention to detail, with the ability to independently manage high-profile, deadline-driven projects involving multiple stakeholders.
- Significant experience in the legal or professional services industry strongly preferred.
- Extensive experience writing and editing for external audiences, with a proven ability to produce compelling, polished, and accurate copy.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with exceptional command of English grammar, usage, and style.
- Experience leveraging AI tools to enhance quality and efficiency where appropriate.
- Ability to communicate and collaborate effectively with professionals at all levels of the organization, including senior leadership.
- Ability to work effectively in a fast-paced environment and manage competing priorities and tight deadlines.
- Superior organizational and project management skills, with the ability to successfully manage multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and the ability to quickly learn new technologies and platforms.
- Demonstrate and promote business principles of quality, unity, and integrity.
