About the Role
The Counselor is responsible for delivering and implementing clinical services to individuals experiencing substance misuse and mental health disorders. This role is part of a multi-disciplinary team.
Responsibilities
- Provide individual sessions consistent with client need, person-centered care, and best practices.
- Facilitate group sessions related to various topics including substance use, relapse prevention, trauma, life skills, and stages of change.
- Document all service delivery in the EHR promptly and consistent with insurance and stakeholder standards.
- Ensure that 70% of work hours are spent providing services.
- Participate in case conferences, staff meetings, and individual and group supervision.
- Deescalate client crises when appropriate and report all incidents to site managers.
- Complete toxicology testing consistent with OASAS and Outreach policies.
- Attend speaking engagements or tabling events.
- Maintain training appropriate to role and credential/licensure.
- Supervise interns based on credential/licensure.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Minimum CASAC-T, CASAC or MSW, MHC, MFT, CAT eligible for limited permit, or an individual licensed to provide clinical and therapeutic services either independently or under supervision.
- 2-3 years of experience with substance use disorders.
- 1-2 years of experience working with individuals suffering from co-occurring disorders.
- 1-2 years of experience working in an OASAS-licensed facility is a plus.
