About the Role
Senpilot is seeking a Distribution Engineering AI Specialist to serve as the utility engineering expert for our Engineering AI Agent. This role bridges the gap between utility engineering practices and our product's modeling capabilities, ensuring the agent meets the highest quality standards and effectively supports customer needs.
Responsibilities
- Own domain quality for the Engineering AI Agent, including reviewing outputs, building test cases, identifying edge cases, and defining assumptions for incomplete data.
- Translate utility engineering workflows into product requirements and define the 'gold standard' process for each.
- Act as the engineering expert in customer-facing interactions, leading discovery, presenting to utility leadership, and scoping pilot programs.
- Support end-to-end customer implementations, onboarding teams, encoding workflows as product skills, and conducting training workshops.
- Collaborate with customers on real engineering problems, gather feedback, and inform the product roadmap.
- Develop institutional knowledge through reusable skills, worked examples, and manuals to enhance product capabilities.
Requirements
- 5+ years in distribution engineering at an electric utility with hands-on experience in asset management, system planning, capital planning, or reliability.
- Demonstrated depth in asset management, capital prioritization, load forecasting, grid modernization, power flow, and/or storm and resiliency planning.
- Working familiarity with GIS, SCADA, OMS, or ADMS data, and experience supporting grid analytics or data modernization.
- Fluency in the day-to-day work products of engineering, finance, and regulatory teams, and the ability to define their integration into the platform.
- A product quality mindset, including addressing customer questions, advocating for product improvements, and building performance benchmarks.
- Comfort presenting the platform's value to all levels of stakeholders and facilitating workshops or meetings.
- Ability to make defensible assumptions with incomplete information and prioritize tasks effectively.
- Fluency with modern AI tools (e.g., Claude, Codex) and large datasets is required.
- P.Eng or a history of presenting to regulators or industry audiences is a plus.
- Coding and tinkering with personal projects is a plus but not a requirement.
