About the Role

The Regional Maintenance role is primarily responsible for the general, preventative, and repair maintenance of a portfolio of buildings in Toronto West. This role responds to emergency situations during and after hours to resolve immediate safety concerns and supports various maintenance activities to ensure service and support for residents, promoting Hazelview as the preferred landlord.

Responsibilities

Ensure a superior level of co-operation, service, and support is provided to residents.
Promptly respond to resident issues and service requests.
Perform general and specialized maintenance and repairs to site and surrounding properties.
Complete assigned service requests for in-suite (interior and exterior) and common area issues in a timely manner.
Complete in-suite turnover activities, including light and heavy maintenance (e.g., appliance repair/replacement, kitchen/bathroom fixture repair, basic carpentry).
Perform appliance repairs, routine plumbing repairs, carpentry repairs, painting, and basic electrical repairs.
Safely use and maintain tools of the job.
Inspect grounds, facilities, and equipment to determine repair or preventative maintenance needs.
Take initiative to correct deficiencies (e.g., maintaining clean lobbies/hallways, replacing light bulbs).
Maintain cleanliness and organization of electrical, mechanical, work, supply, and storage areas.
Perform all job facets in accordance with applicable legislation (Health & Safety, WHMIS, AODA, PIPEDA, Human Rights).
Comply with health & safety procedures, ensuring use of required safety equipment and identifying unsafe practices/conditions.
Ensure all areas are free of hazards and inform management of unresolved issues.
Maintain regular and timely documentation of maintenance activities in designated software.
Respond to after-hours emergencies when on call.
May be required to work with contractors and monitor work progress.
Perform other duties as requested by management.
Train new team members on routine maintenance repairs, in-suite turnover, inspections, and service request completion.
May be responsible for scheduling and directing work.

Requirements

Completion of High School or general education degree (GED).
2+ years of maintenance or related experience preferred.
Must have a valid driver's license and vehicle.
Flexibility to work on-call on a rotating schedule (evenings & weekends) is required (one week on, one week off).
Proficient with use of basic handheld and electrical tools.
Knowledge of plumbing, electrical, drywall, carpentry, painting, etc.
Must be familiar with community rules and regulations.
