About the Role

Canadian Blood Services is seeking a Temporary Full-Time Lead - Data Governance to join the Operational Excellence team. This role is crucial for managing and governing supply chain data, improving data quality, consistency, and accessibility through the development of data governance practices, standards, and processes. The ideal candidate will enjoy collaborating with others, translating business needs into solutions, and promoting a data-driven culture.

Responsibilities

Design and implement governance frameworks, policies, and standards to enhance data quality, integrity, and accessibility.
Collaborate with stakeholders to identify, classify, and govern data assets, establishing clear ownership and accountability.
Lead cross-functional initiatives to prioritize governance improvements and resolve data-related challenges.
Champion data governance best practices and foster a culture of data-informed decision-making.
Facilitate discussions to understand requirements, align priorities, and support enterprise data governance objectives.
Support data literacy initiatives to help leaders analyze, interpret, visualize, and communicate data.

Requirements

Post-secondary education in a relevant field (e.g., business, computer science, data science, statistics, economics, finance) or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Experience with data governance, business systems analysis, or related business functions, including process development, requirements analysis, and data management improvement.
Knowledge of data governance tools and practices (metadata management, data lineage, data quality, business glossaries).
Strong documentation, organizational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
Ability to explain complex concepts to diverse audiences.
Experience leading projects, driving initiatives, and managing competing priorities with attention to detail.
Ability to work independently and collaboratively.
Ability to build effective relationships and influence change.
