About the Role

The Sr. Executive Chef (EC) is a multi-unit culinary leader responsible for the overall success of multi-unit café operations and the delivery of an innovative Food Program. This role involves close collaboration with various cross-functional teams to ensure operational and administrative excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Lead café teams to deliver operational and administrative excellence.
  • Ensure the delivery of delicious, high-quality meals and engaging guest experiences.
  • Foster talent development and training within culinary teams.
  • Drive workplace and food safety management.
  • Manage finances to meet budgetary expectations for food, labor, and expenses.
  • Drive diverse and inclusive associate engagement.
  • Display comprehensive leadership.
  • Participate in and support all Compass Group and Restaurant Associates initiatives, including menu planning and recipe development.
  • Act as a role model and inspire culinary teams.
  • Implement strategies and process improvements for change management.
  • Hold teams accountable for accurate and high-quality work.
  • Use preferred development and mentoring techniques.
  • Communicate honestly and accurately with all stakeholders.
  • Recognize and reward individuals and teams.
  • Encourage and support culinary associate development, including performance reviews and coaching.
  • Drive associate participation in job-related training.

  • Guide onboarding processes and support HR in interviews.
  • Direct teams to meet and exceed Core Performance Expectations.
  • Drive compliance with Compass Group programs and procedures.
  • Ensure timely creation of balanced cycle menus meeting client needs.
  • Oversee café operations, including pre- and post-food production processes.
  • Ensure cafés use and follow recipes for high-quality meals.
  • Monitor daily TASTE procedures and protocols.
  • Ensure accurate food descriptions and allergy call-outs.
  • Lead teams in efficiency and accuracy in Mobius and Webrition.
  • Ensure effective presentation of 'Daily Tens' meetings.
  • Coordinate work efforts with other teams and departments.
  • Support the development and implementation of new concepts and programs.
  • Provide catering, café, and new builds/renovation support.
  • Report and collaborate on equipment repair and maintenance.
  • Ensure teams work within budget while maintaining program standards.
  • Manage and monitor labor, food, and operation costs.
  • Maximize the use of Compass Group and client tools and systems.
  • Lead café teams in proper ordering and sourcing of local/seasonal foods.
  • Create work efficiencies and leverage GPAK integration for cost savings.
  • Contribute to quarterly equipment replacement needs (CAPEX).
  • Ensure workplace safety standards are consistently met.
  • Collaborate with Workplace Safety Manager on program adherence and training.
  • Ensure food safety standards are consistently met, including error-free allergen management.
  • Collaborate with Food Safety Manager on program adherence and training.
  • Report injuries, accidents, and/or foodborne illnesses accurately and timely.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 4 years’ culinary supervisory experience in a similar high-volume, quality food service establishment.
  • Proven track record in leadership, including coaching and teaching skills with individuals and teams.
  • Ability to proactively solve problems and work independently and/or in teams effectively and efficiently with limited supervision.
  • Proven ability to manage budgets, utilize reporting platforms, and meet financial goals.
  • Ability to effectively communicate, motivate, and interact with all levels within the organization.
  • Ability to maintain confidentiality.

Skills

  • Highly developed culinary skills with comfort in traditional, modern, and multi-ethnic cuisines.
  • Ability to create new, innovating, and exciting dishes within guidelines of the food program.
  • Proficient in computer and technical skills, working knowledge of Google Suite programs.
