About the Role
We are seeking an experienced dental front office professional to manage patient care, schedules, insurance, and collections in our busy Hicksville practice. This role requires a deep understanding of dental office operations and the ability to take ownership of front-office workflows.
Responsibilities
- Manage Medicaid eligibility, benefits, prior authorizations/predeterminations, and required documentation.
- Verify PPO insurance and understand patient benefits.
- Read patient ledgers and accurately explain balances.
- Collect copays, deductibles, balances, and treatment payments.
- Follow up on outstanding treatment and schedule patients.
- Reappoint patients, especially hygiene patients.
- Ensure providers' schedules remain full and productive.
- Confirm appointments and manage cancellations and open time.
- Check patients in and out efficiently.
- Escalate insurance or billing issues to the RCM team when necessary.
- Maintain accurate notes and follow through on unresolved patient issues.
- Arrive on time, be dependable, and take ownership of responsibilities.
Requirements
- Prior experience working in a dental office with a significant Medicaid patient population is required.
- Comfortable working within specific Medicaid authorization, eligibility, and documentation processes.
- Strong dental front-office experience.
- Ability to professionally and directly ask patients for payment.
- Ability to read and understand a patient ledger.
- Understanding of predeterminations/prior authorizations and ability to follow them through to completion.
- Ability to keep patients moving through the practice and reappoint them.
- Organized, responsive, and reliable.
- Proactive in following up on unresolved items.
