About the Role
Columbia Grammar & Preparatory School seeks a full-time resource teacher to provide support as needs arise, including covering absences, breaks, and meetings. The role involves working with grammar school-aged students and collaborating with colleagues.
Responsibilities
- Follow lesson plans as directed by the teacher or co-teacher.
- Assist students in and out of the classroom.
- Collaborate positively and respectfully with colleagues, school administrators, and parents.
- Supervise lunchroom and recesses.
- Participate or provide data on students and document observations about student behavior.
- Communicate proactively and professionally about students with teaching and non-teaching staff, maintaining confidentiality.
- Conduct all work activities in a professional manner.
- Demonstrate commitment to working in a school community.
- Perform any additional duties assigned by the Divisional Director.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree required; Master’s degree preferred.
- Minimum of two years’ experience in elementary education.
- Strong communication (verbal, written, interpersonal) skills and leadership qualities.
- Demonstrated organization and planning skills; strong attention to detail, and follow-up skills.
- Strong background and familiarity in teaching literacy, pre-reading, and math skills.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and effectively prioritize multiple competing tasks.
- Belief in and alignment with Columbia Grammar’s core beliefs and educational philosophy.
- Evidence of self-motivation and willingness to be a team player.
