About the Role

STACK is seeking a Vice President of Corporate Development & Strategic Partnerships to spearhead the company’s growth strategy, focusing on M&A, strategic partnerships, and corporate development. This role involves managing the entire corporate development lifecycle, from strategy definition and pipeline building to transaction execution and post-acquisition integration, working closely with the executive team and various departments to accelerate product roadmaps, expand markets, and enhance strategic capabilities.

Responsibilities

  • Develop and own STACK’s corporate development and M&A strategy, identifying acquisitions and strategic investments to accelerate long-term growth.
  • Build and manage a pipeline of acquisition targets in construction technology, vertical SaaS, workflow software, AI, data, and adjacent markets.
  • Source opportunities through relationships with founders, executives, investors, private equity and venture firms, bankers, and industry leaders.
  • Lead the end-to-end M&A process, including target identification, evaluation, financial modeling, valuation, business cases, diligence, negotiation, transaction structuring, and closing.
  • Develop investment theses and present acquisition recommendations, risks, valuation considerations, and strategic rationale to executive leadership and the Board.
  • Lead build-vs-partner-vs-buy analysis for new products, capabilities, technologies, and market expansion opportunities.
  • Coordinate cross-functional diligence across Product, Engineering, Finance, Legal, Sales, Customer Success, and other stakeholders.
  • Partner with Product and Engineering leadership to assess technology, product fit, intellectual property, talent, and integration considerations.
  • Develop integration strategies and success metrics before transactions close to ensure measurable outcomes.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of the competitive landscape and emerging companies for potential opportunities.
  • Identify strategic partnerships that complement M&A strategy and extend STACK’s market position.
  • Develop relationships with construction software platforms, ERP and accounting providers, financial technology companies, materials and equipment providers, and other strategic players.
  • Evaluate build, partner, invest, or acquire decisions for strategic opportunities.
  • Structure and negotiate strategic agreements, integrations, commercial relationships, and other value-creating transactions.
  • Develop relationships with executives across the construction and technology ecosystem for future opportunities.

Requirements

  • 10+ years of experience in corporate development, M&A, strategic investments, private equity, venture capital, management consulting, or a combination thereof.
  • Demonstrated track record of sourcing, evaluating, negotiating, and executing acquisitions or strategic investments, particularly in construction technology.
  • Experience owning or significantly contributing to the full transaction lifecycle, including valuation, financial modeling, diligence, negotiation, transaction structuring, and integration planning.
  • Strong financial and analytical capabilities, with the ability to independently build and defend acquisition models, valuations, business cases, and investment recommendations.
  • Experience developing acquisition theses, evaluating markets, and proactively identifying targets.
  • Strong understanding of SaaS business models and the strategic and financial drivers of software acquisitions.
  • Experience partnering with Product and Engineering teams to evaluate technology businesses and determine product/technical fit.
  • Excellent executive communication skills, capable of presenting complex transactions and strategic recommendations to executives and Board members.
