About the Role
We are seeking a dedicated and detail-oriented Patient Representative to serve as a vital point of contact for patients and their families within our pediatric orthopedic practice. The ideal candidate will possess strong administrative skills, excellent communication abilities, and a comprehensive understanding of healthcare systems. As a Patient Representative, you will facilitate patient interactions, manage medical documentation, and ensure a seamless experience for all visitors and callers, supporting our mission to deliver outstanding patient care. You will enjoy an eight-week paid training program to ensure you are prepared to confidently complete the tasks within your position.
Responsibilities
- Greet patients and visitors warmly, providing exceptional front desk customer service while maintaining professionalism and courtesy.
- Schedule appointments accurately using electronic health record (EHR) systems.
- Verify insurance information and assist with health insurance inquiries, ensuring compliance with HIPAA confidentiality policies.
- Assist patients with the medical billing process, including collection of payments and explanation of billing statements.
- Maintain knowledge of health information management practices, medical terminology, and clinic procedures to provide accurate assistance.
Requirements
- Experience in a medical office setting or healthcare environment is beneficial.
- Demonstrated proficiency with EMR systems such as eClinicalWorks, Epic, Athenahealth; or other EHR systems is advantageous.
- Excellent customer service skills combined with clerical experience, and office management tasks.
- Utilize computer skills include Microsoft Office and EMR/EHR management software to update patient information efficiently.
- Bilingual abilities are highly desirable to effectively communicate with a diverse patient population.
