About the Role
The Auto Body Technician is responsible for assessing and repairing customer vehicles to restore them to pre-accident condition, ensuring an exceptional customer experience. This role involves meticulous disassembly, repair, and reassembly of vehicles, contributing to the company's promise of speed, quality, and customer excellence. The technician will work collaboratively with team members to achieve repair facility KPIs and act as a Brand Ambassador for The Boyd Group.
Responsibilities
- Ensure consistent execution of the WOW (Wow Operating Way) plan.
- Plan necessary repair work and prepare cost estimates for customers.
- Use tools such as cutting guns, plasma cutters, hydraulic jacks, hammers, and pliers to repair vehicle sections.
- Hammer out dents, dimples, and minor body damage, or mix and apply filler resins when necessary.
- Realign car chassis and frames to repair structural damage.
- Remove damaged vehicle sections and replace them with new or aftermarket parts.
- Replace or repair glass, windshields, and interior parts as needed.
- Weld, attach, or fit parts into place.
- Prepare and repaint vehicles with factory-specified paint or an agreed-upon equivalent.
- Attempt to complete work orders within labor time guidelines.
- Inspect vehicles after repair to ensure correct execution of work.
- Perform other related duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Ability to read job orders and work with very little supervision.
- Ability to work with other repairers within an auto body shop.
- Thorough understanding of methods and procedures to repair vehicle bodies.
- Thorough understanding of how to use tools required for the trade.
- Must be able to work safely in a noisy area with many odors present.
- Must be able to lift up to 30 pounds at times.
- Must be able to visually inspect vehicle damage in a variety of weather conditions.
- Must be able to bend, stretch, kneel, and squat to perform repairs and inspections.
