About the Role
This role combines community outreach and partnership building with the day-to-day work of creating a welcoming center and developing programs alongside local families.
Responsibilities
- Welcome families and community members to the FEC and encourage them to take part in its programs and activities
- Build and maintain relationships with schools, community organizations, leaders, public institutions, and local coalitions
- Represent the FEC at community events and share its offerings with parents and caregivers, including those who may feel isolated or have less access to support
- Listen to families’ interests and work with them to design and deliver meaningful programs and monthly events
- Bring together and support a team of local parents who help shape FEC activities
- Help families connect with local resources, services, and practical supports, including referrals when appropriate
- Create calendars, website content, guides, toolkits, and other materials that help families learn about and access the FEC
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree AND three (3) years of professional experience; OR a high school diploma AND five (5) years of professional experience in community-driven-programs working directly with children, youth and families
- Minimum knowledge of, lived experience in, and commitment to the FEC community
- Experience caring for children as a parent, guardian, relative, neighbor, or babysitter
- Outstanding interpersonal skills
- Empathetic communicator with natural warmth, enthusiasm, and a genuine interest in building relationships
- Sees the strengths in every family, enjoys bringing people together, and wants to help create a space shaped by the community it serves
