About the Role
NeuSpark PDS is seeking Assistant Managers for residential sites in Bay Ridge, Canarsie, Flatbush, and Red Hook. This role involves supporting individuals with developmental disabilities to lead meaningful, self-directed lives.
Responsibilities
- Work in partnership with individuals to ensure their rights, health, safety, and personal outcomes are supported.
- Advocate with individuals in various situations.
- Teach individuals new life skills.
- Assist individuals in overcoming barriers to establish and maintain relationships and social roles.
- Supervise, train, evaluate, and observe assigned Direct Support Professionals (DSP).
- Ensure all required documentation is completed appropriately and in a timely manner.
- Prevent, recognize, and report abuse toward individuals.
- Provide ongoing protective oversight to individuals living in the residence.
- Oversee and perform day-to-day administrative functions within the Residential program.
- Coordinate and facilitate all monthly staff meetings.
- Initiate and follow through on the hiring process for new residential staff.
- Attend all program surveys and follow through on corrective action plans.
- Work with various departments to ensure adequate staffing, equipment, materials, and supplies.
- Implement and ensure applicable laws, regulations, policies, and procedures are available to staff.
- Ensure all staff training is completed in a timely manner and conduct workshops/trainings.
- Enforce progressive discipline based on company policies.
- Oversee the implementation of Individuals’ Habilitation plans, behavioral services, and healthcare needs.
- Provide oversight and monitoring of all financial resources.
- Read and monitor the communication log.
- Daily monitoring, review, and submission of billing documentation.
- Organize and monitor medical needs, including medication administration.
- Manage incidents while adhering to OPWDD 624 regulations.
- Perform simple computer functions.
- Physically assist individuals, including possible lifting, in emergencies or as needed.
- Ensure the physical plan complies with OPWDD standards.
- Fulfill on-call responsibilities and cover DSP responsibilities.
- Maintain ongoing communication and communicate respectfully with all people.
- Provide emergency coverage and cover DSP responsibilities as needed.
- Coordinate, support, attend, and participate in all required events, meetings, reviews, and committees.
- Maintain the confidentiality of information relating to individuals and employees.
- Ensure the residence, including the external property, is clean, safe, and attractive at all times.
- Complete all required trainings and stay in compliance.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- 18 Years of age or older
- Minimum 2 years of experience working with individuals with disabilities in an OPWDD setting
- Valid NYS Driver’s License and satisfy criteria to be a driver for PDS
- Demonstrated ability to work in a team environment with flexibility, keeping others informed and anticipating needs is essential
- Must be efficient, well organized, and have excellent communication skills
- Employee is required to sit, walk and stand for prolonged period of time (at least 8 hours)
- Employee is required to effectively communicate both verbally and in writing
- Employee is required to operate standard office equipment such as computers, phones, photocopiers, fax and filing cabinets
- Employee is required to reach with hands and arms
- Employee is required to bend, stoop, kneel, crouch or stand on a stool as needed
- Employee is required to be able occasionally lift up to 25 pounds at a time
