About the Role

We are seeking an Architect to design, build, and refine our global offices from our New York headquarters. You will collaborate with international colleagues and external partners to create spaces that support our work environment, managing projects from inception through completion. This role involves balancing design quality, budget, schedule, and operational needs while incorporating innovative ideas.

Responsibilities

  • Establishing project briefs, design priorities, scopes, budgets, schedules, and decision processes with colleagues
  • Developing initial test fits and reviewing consultant concepts, layouts, drawings, specifications, and details
  • Coordinating internal teams, external consultants, and contractors to ensure recommendations align with Jane Street's priorities
  • Managing specialist partners, including furniture vendors, food service consultants, permitting consultants, artists, fabricators, and workplace strategists
  • Translating input from users, consultants, vendors, and internal teams into practical recommendations
  • Working with creative colleagues and specialist partners on materials, finishes, furniture, wayfinding, and installations
  • Overseeing construction administration, including RFIs, submittals, mockups, field observations, change proposals, punch lists, and closeout
  • Tracking decisions and risks, resolving open issues, and applying lessons learned to future designs and standards

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in workplace architecture and project delivery
  • Strong design and technical skills, including interior detailing
  • Working knowledge of building codes
  • Ability to take ownership of projects and workstreams
  • Skill in managing competing priorities and coordinating work across regions
  • Capacity to delegate work to consultants and hold them accountable
  • Ability to synthesize design, technical, financial, and operational input into practical recommendations
  • Capability to make sound decisions with incomplete or changing information and maintain contingency plans
  • Clear communication skills with designers, contractors, and colleagues
  • Willingness to challenge requirements constructively
  • Curiosity about new tools, including AI, and their application in streamlining workflows and improving project quality
