About the Role

The Patient Service Representative (PSR) supports the mission of People's Community Clinic (PCC) by coordinating patient flow through the front office, ensuring superior customer service and timely patient care. PSRs collaborate with internal and external customers in alignment with PCC core values.

Responsibilities

  • Greet patients promptly upon arrival with excellent customer service.
  • Complete the entire check-in process efficiently and monitor daily appointment schedules.
  • Thoroughly review and update patient demographics, consents, insurance, and income.
  • Ensure patients are screened by financial counselors if applicable.
  • Anticipate needs for same-day visits, including completing registration and insurance verification.
  • Maintain an organized work area.
  • Complete the entire checkout process.
  • Communicate effectively with back-office support staff and other departments.
  • Function well as a team with flexibility to adapt to daily changes.
  • Monitor waiting area wait times and communicate delays to patients and clinical staff.
  • Manage late arriving patients and no-show appointments per policy.
  • Collect co-pays and accurately reconcile daily cash.
  • Comply with all front office policies and procedures.
  • Process medical records release requests.
  • Comply with attendance and punctuality requirements.
  • Ensure equipment is turned on and prepared for the workday at the start of the shift.
  • Occasional overtime and/or weekend hours may be required.

Requirements

  • Two years of experience working in a physician’s office or healthcare facility.
  • Experience with medical billing and/or collections preferred.

Skills

  • Bilingual in English/Spanish
  • Exceptional customer service skills
  • Ability to interact successfully with people from a diverse backgrounds and abilities
  • Basic computer literacy, including working with databases
  • Working knowledge of electronic medical records and practice management systems
  • Ability to multi-task in a high change environment
