About the Role
Provides professional nursing care to patients and families, utilizing the nursing process to assess, plan, intervene, evaluate, and document care. Formulates nursing diagnoses, provides teaching and counseling, and delegates tasks to assistive personnel. Adheres to The Brooklyn Hospital Center's standards, mission, and goals.
Responsibilities
- Assess patients admitted to the Medical/Surgical Unit.
- Plan care for patients admitted to the Medical/Surgical Unit.
- Intervene in patient care on the Medical/Surgical Unit.
- Evaluate patient care on the Medical/Surgical Unit.
- Document patient care on the Medical/Surgical Unit.
- Formulate nursing diagnoses for treating actual or potential health problems.
- Provide teaching and counseling to patients and families.
- Delegate appropriate tasks to assistive nursing personnel.
- Perform assigned point of care testing (e.g., Glucometer).
Requirements
- Graduate from an accredited School of Nursing.
- Current New York State Licensed Registered Professional Nurse.
- Current Basic Cardiac Life Support (BCLS).
- Ability to apply knowledge – assessment.
- Ability to build interpersonal relationships – communication.
- Ability to provide people-centered care.
- Ability to collaborate with other professionals.
- Computer application skills – ALLSCRIPTS and Microsoft Excel.
