About the Role
St. Thomas More Preschool offers a positive and enjoyable experience for students to grow intellectually, emotionally, socially, and spiritually. The program focuses on the developmental stages, skills, and needs of each child, nurturing their God-given abilities. This role supports the classroom teacher in implementing a meaningful learning experience for pre-kindergarten children.
Responsibilities
- Implement a meaningful learning experience by interacting with children in classroom activities and supporting the classroom teacher.
- Follow lesson plans to create a cohesive and consistent learning experience for students.
- Manage the classroom effectively to encourage student participation and maintain a positive learning environment.
- Supervise students in and out of the classroom, including the playground and cafeteria.
- Assist the teacher in setting up and cleaning the classroom in the morning and afternoon.
- Clean tables after snacks and lunch, and sweep floors.
- Participate in recommended training programs and professional growth activities, including 24 hours of continuing education.
- Assist in the daily cleaning of the classroom.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Passion to influence the lives of pre-kindergarten children.
- Patience in meeting young learners' spiritual, academic, behavioral, social, and emotional needs.
- Patience in accepting guidance and assignments from the classroom teacher.
- Valid Texas driver's license.
- Compliance with the Diocese of Austin Ethics and Integrity Ministry (EIM) policies.
- Ability to lift or carry supplies, textbooks, and equipment.
- Ability to sit, stand, bend, stoop, grab, pull, hear, see, and speak daily.
- Ability to monitor students in various locations, including those with noise, activity, and inclement weather.
- Ability to change diapers.
- Adherence to established dress codes and conduct standards.
