About the Role
The Continuous Improvement Leader will initiate and drive Continuous Improvement projects within a fast-paced, high-growth food manufacturing environment. This role will implement new strategic initiatives and special projects to standardize best practices and enable company growth, while leading and mentoring Continuous Improvement Engineers.
Responsibilities
- Provide leadership in Continuous Improvement methodologies such as Lean and Six Sigma to eliminate waste, increase productivity, reduce costs, and improve efficiencies across manufacturing operations.
- Create an environment that fosters continuous improvement and lean manufacturing.
- Lead and mentor a team of Continuous Improvement Engineers, removing roadblocks, mitigating risk, and communicating with leadership.
- Lead projects as a technical expert to Operations on improving processes.
- Carry out Continuous Improvement initiatives such as quality clinics, problem-solving workshops, and Kaizens using methods like DMAIC.
- Work closely with all departments and levels of management.
- Guide the team in defining problems and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Assist the change management process and ensure involvement through strong facilitation and change agent skills.
- Act as a coach to the team in their development and use of Continuous Improvement tools and techniques.
- Identify potential training needs to elevate team capabilities.
Requirements
- 3-5 years of related experience in manufacturing (food industry highly preferred).
- 2+ years of management/leadership experience.
- Expert knowledge of Continuous Improvement Systems, Six-Sigma, Lean Manufacturing, Kaizen etc.
- Excellent computer skills (MS Office).
- Collaborative/mentoring/coaching management style.
- Six Sigma certification required, ideally SS Black Belt.
- Ability to manage and deliver multiple Operational Excellence projects.
- Excellent communication skills, both oral and written.
- Ability to multitask and work in a fast-paced production environment.
- Flexible to work various work schedules as needed.
- Ability to exercise sound judgment and make timely decisions.
- Strong analytical skills, both written and verbal (English).
- Resourceful with a sense of urgency in providing solutions.
- Must have a valid driver's license and vehicle.
