About the Role

Amazon Leo is developing a low Earth orbit satellite broadband network to deliver fast, reliable internet globally. The Security team ensures the security of the satellite constellation and customer data through research, development, deployment, and operation of mission-critical security systems. This role offers a startup-like environment with Amazon's backing to build security mechanisms and foster a security culture.

Responsibilities

Be proactive in removing roadblocks, fostering innovation, and managing multiple competing priorities in a fast-paced environment, driving continuous improvement and efficiency.
Create, optimize, and support cross-functional working groups and projects, fostering collaboration and synergy across departments to enhance security capabilities.
Manage tight deadlines with precision and drive results, exhibiting exceptional attention to detail and ensuring the successful completion of projects and initiatives.
Own the program lifecycle for large, complex security initiatives spanning multiple teams and VP organizations, including mission, vision, tenets, and roadmap contributions.
Partner with security engineers and senior technical leaders to perform program-level design reviews and risk assessments and ensure architectural choices appropriately balance short-term needs with long-term security posture.
Develop and maintain program mechanisms – including risk registers, review processes, and reporting structures – to ensure security risks are tracked, escalated, and remediated in partnership with risk owners.
Simplify and streamline cross-functional processes to increase selections velocity and reduce friction for solution teams.
Collect, analyze, and synthesize data from a variety of sources to create compelling written and verbal communications for Director and VP-level audiences, including Amazon 6-pagers and Monthly Program Reviews.
Build consensus among discordant views, escalate effectively, and ensure business and technical stakeholder needs are aligned across the program.
Help identify business security priorities and mechanisms to address the security of Leo's products and services.
Work with partners and builder teams to simplify risk mitigation.
Influence the security strategy of partner teams to optimize security outcomes for customers.
Participate in hiring, development, and training of team members.
Own a part of the team outcome and be encouraged to grow ownership and role.

Requirements

5+ years of technical program management working directly with software engineering teams experience
5+ years of working directly with engineering teams experience
Experience developing and executing/delivering product and technical roadmaps
Background in satellite operations, aerospace, or highly regulated environments (ITAR/EAR)
Experience building proof-of-concept services to validate requirements
You thrive in ambiguity and create clarity for others.
You have experience managing programs spanning distributed systems, security infrastructure, or compliance-driven initiatives.
You understand security controls, vulnerability management, SAST and DAST scanning systems well enough to have informed technical conversations and spot opportunities early.
You manage through influence, not authority.
You work across organizations with different priorities and build alignment.
You communicate crisply to senior leadership, distinguishing signal from noise.
You build mechanisms that scale: dashboards, status cadences, escalation paths, and dependency trackers that outlast any individual program review.
