About the Role
As an Unarmed Security Officer in a Shelter setting, you will monitor and patrol assigned areas, maintain a visible presence to help deter incidents, and support a welcoming environment for residents, visitors, and staff. You will conduct routine rounds, report security-related concerns, and provide outstanding customer service and communication. Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to residents, visitors, and staff by carrying out site-specific security-related procedures, policies, and emergency response activities at a residential location.
- Conduct regular and random foot and/or vehicle patrols of residential buildings, common areas, entrances, parking areas, and perimeter locations to help to deter unauthorized activity.
- Monitor access points and visitor activity, verify authorization as required, and report suspicious or unusual conditions according to site procedures.
- Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, notifying appropriate personnel and emergency responders when needed.
- Document patrols, incidents, and daily activities accurately in accordance with Allied Universal and site-specific reporting procedures.
Requirements
- Possess a valid New York State Security Guard License.
- Have at least one year of security-related experience.
- CPR and First Aid certification is preferred.
- A Guard Card or license is preferred.
- X-Ray screening experience is preferred.
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- As a condition of employment, applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
