About the Role

Austin Community College is seeking to recruit and retain a workforce that values intellectual curiosity, promotes equitable access to educational opportunities, and is focused on student academic achievement and postgraduate outcomes. This role is responsible for preparing and delivering engaging Biology and Anatomy & Physiology coursework.

Responsibilities

• Prepare and teach courses in Biology (general biology courses and Human Anatomy & Physiology courses) to a multicultural student population.
• Evaluate student progress and provide clear, timely feedback.
• Provide teaching and mentoring services to students without discrimination.
• Remain current in the field through professional development activities.
• Perform other related tasks as assigned by department leadership.
• Demonstrated proficiency using computer applications, online resources, and other technologies for the classroom.
• Demonstrated proficiency using an online learning management system such as Blackboard to develop and build course content and perform administrative duties.
• Meet deadlines for attendance certification and submission of final course grades.
• Maintain regular office hours to assist students and improve student retention and success.
• Recognize and reflect standards of civility and collegiality in all interactions.
• Comply with published college policies and procedures and meet professional standards for teaching in a community college.
• Appropriate use of the college's learning management system.

Requirements

• Master’s degree in Biology, Biological Sciences, Anatomy or Physiology, Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Biomedical Science, Botany, Aquatic Biology, Integrative Biology, Marine Biology, Microbiology, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Neuroanatomy, Neuroscience, Genetics, or Zoology; or Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in one of these disciplines.
• For Anatomy & Physiology: Master's degree in Biology, Anatomy; or Physiology or Master's in Biological Sciences and at least 3 graduate hours in animal physiology, mammalian physiology, vertebrate physiology, pathophysiology or neurophysiology; or Master's in Biochemistry, Bioengineering, Cellular and Molecular Biology, Neuroanatomy, Neuroscience, Genetics or Zoology, and at least 3 graduate hours in animal physiology, mammalian physiology, vertebrate physiology, pathophysiology or neurophysiology; or MD degree with a Master's degree; or Master's degree with 18 graduate hours in Biology or Biological Sciences, and at least 3 graduate hours in animal physiology, mammalian physiology, vertebrate physiology, pathophysiology or neurophysiology.
