About the Role
The Statler Hotel at Cornell University is seeking a Line Cook to execute daily prep tasks, prepare food with accuracy and speed, and ensure food safety. This role provides functional guidance to student cooks and collaborates with front-of-house staff to ensure a quality customer experience. The position requires maintaining professionalism, supporting teammates, and adhering to operating standards.
Responsibilities
- Execute daily prep tasks, including cutting ingredients and setting up the production line.
- Prepare food with accuracy and speed.
- Ensure food safety by monitoring and recording temperatures.
- Maintain cleanliness of the work area.
- Provide functional guidance and training for student cooks.
- Collaborate with front-of-house staff to ensure a quality customer experience.
- Maintain professionalism and support teammates.
- Adhere to operating standards during shift closures.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or equivalent required.
- 1-2 years of experience cooking in a restaurant, hotel, or resort.
- Understanding of cooking methods and procedures.
- Knife handling skills.
- Ability to perform tasks with accuracy, speed, and attention to detail.
- Ability to read and follow cooking directions.
- Ability to remain calm in a fast-paced environment.
- Must be organized and self-motivated.
- Must be able to stand, bend, stretch, and lift, and carry heavy materials.
