About the Role
The Strategic Analyst supports CCN's strategic positioning within New York's healthcare transformation landscape, translating market, financial, and population data into actionable intelligence to inform strategy and decision-making.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and analyze developments in New York State health policy, Medicaid managed care, and value-based arrangements, summarizing implications for CCN and its network.
- Align analytics with the overall Care Compass and Rural Health Strategic Plans.
- Build and maintain market analyses covering payers, health systems, CBOs, and competing entities.
- Deliver a comprehensive regional and local rural health needs assessment, identifying preventive care gaps and benchmarking against baselines.
- Use public data sources to track program impact and develop models of market evolution.
- Analyze clinical and social data, synthesize findings from stakeholder sessions, and translate results into actionable narratives.
- Develop utilization models to support VBA negotiations, delegated care management arrangements, and rate/contract evaluation.
- Analyze population health, social care, and utilization data to identify service gaps, target populations, and program opportunities.
- Prepare briefs, dashboards, and presentations to make complex market and regulatory dynamics accessible.
- Support grant development and reporting with market data, benchmarking, and outcome-metric tracking.
- Track peer organizations and emerging models statewide and nationally to inform CCN's strategic direction.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in health policy, public health, economics, business, data analytics, or a related field; master's preferred.
- 2–4 years of experience in healthcare analytics, market research, managed care, or a related setting.
- Working knowledge of value-based payment, Medicaid, and the New York transformation landscape is strongly preferred.
- Strong quantitative and data visualization skills (Excel required; SQL, Tableau/Power BI, or similar a plus).
- Hands-on experience with a healthcare market-planning or forecasting tool is preferred.
- Experience with community health needs assessments, stakeholder engagement, or mixed clinical/social data is a plus.
- Analytical Rigor: Translates complex clinical, financial, and population data into sound, defensible conclusions.
- Communication & Storytelling: Makes technical and regulatory dynamics clear and actionable for leadership, boards, and partners.
- Strategic & Market Orientation: Connects day-to-day analysis to CCN's positioning and long-term direction.
- Collaboration Across Sectors: Works effectively across health systems, CBOs, MCOs, and state programs.
