About the Role

Genesis Companies seeks a Director of IT & Artificial Intelligence to manage IT operations, oversee enterprise AI adoption, and lead strategic IT initiatives across multiple entities. This role involves hands-on support for technology systems, managing the company's enterprise AI platform (Claude), and advising executive leadership on technology, AI, data, and cybersecurity.

Responsibilities

  • Manage and maintain the company’s IT systems and infrastructure.
  • Provide technical support to all employees, troubleshooting hardware and software issues.
  • Configure, install, and maintain software applications and operating systems.
  • Ensure network systems (Wi-Fi, LAN, VPN) are functioning optimally and securely.
  • Oversee and support the Microsoft 365 suite and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Provide hands-on technical assistance with system malfunctions, device setup, and upgrades.
  • Manage and resolve security-related issues, ensuring compliance with IT security protocols.
  • Issue devices to employees and establish a system for tracking accountability and cost efficiency.
  • Oversee and monitor the security camera network.
  • Provide regular IT reports to the VP of Operations.
  • Document IT processes, policies, and procedures.
  • Manage the company’s IT support contractor.
  • Develop and implement a technology and AI strategy that supports business objectives.
  • Serve as a strategic advisor to executive leadership regarding technology, AI, cybersecurity, and data.
  • Identify and evaluate technological trends and solutions to improve operational efficiency.
  • Recommend and implement new technologies and upgrades.
  • Develop and manage the IT budget.
  • Oversee IT resource allocation for hardware and software expenditures.
  • Track and report on IT expenditures.
  • Manage AI platform subscriptions and seat licensing.
  • Manage IT projects from start to finish.
  • Develop and maintain IT project plans.
  • Ensure IT projects are completed on time, within budget, and meet requirements.
  • Identify IT-related risks and develop mitigation strategies.
  • Ensure compliance with data security standards.
  • Implement and maintain security protocols.
  • Conduct routine audits and assessments of IT systems and security measures.
  • Coordinate with third-party vendors for IT support, security, software, and hardware.
  • Negotiate contracts with vendors.
  • Manage vendor relationships.
  • Own the vendor relationship with the company’s AI platform provider (Anthropic).
  • Drive the company’s AI adoption strategy, including training and change management.
  • Evaluate AI platforms, applications, vendors, and tools before implementation.
  • Lead the development and growth of AI-driven platforms, workflows, and automations.
  • Develop, publish, and maintain the company’s AI Acceptable Use Policy and related standards.
  • Provide strategic oversight on AI-related risks.
  • Monitor new AI technologies and recommend strategic solutions.
  • Partner with leadership to identify technology and AI learning needs.
  • Administer the Genesis Companies Claude organization, including user provisioning, roles, settings, and seat management.
  • Control what company data Claude can reach through connectors and integrations.
  • Own the company’s centrally managed library of Claude skills.
  • Set standards for how staff build Claude projects, scheduled tasks, and automations.
  • Provide direct, high-touch support for executive-level Claude configurations.
  • Manage deployment and updates of the Claude desktop and mobile applications and browser extension.
  • Deliver onboarding and role-based training for all staff on Claude and the skills library.
  • Monitor Claude seat utilization, usage limits, model access, and spend.
  • Track Anthropic product releases and evaluate new capabilities for pilots.
  • Review audit logs and usage patterns for policy violations or data-exposure risk.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Information Technology, Computer Science, or a related field.
  • Minimum of 5 years of experience in IT support, IT operations, or a related role.
  • At least 2 years in a strategic or management capacity.
  • Hands-on experience administering an enterprise generative-AI platform (Claude for business preferred; Microsoft 365 Copilot, ChatGPT Enterprise, or Gemini for Workspace acceptable).
  • Working knowledge of how large language models operate and where they fail.
  • Strong knowledge and experience with Microsoft Office 365 and Microsoft Entra ID.
  • Proficient in managing hardware, including desktops, laptops, printers, and mobile devices.
  • Experience with network systems management.
  • In-depth knowledge of cybersecurity best practices and risk management.
  • Familiarity with cloud technologies, including Azure and AWS.
  • Demonstrated experience with IT project management and vendor management.
  • Strong understanding of data backup solutions and best practices for data protection.
  • Scripting or automation skills (PowerShell, Python) and comfort working with API documentation and structured configuration files.
  • Experience drafting and enforcing technology and AI acceptable-use policies.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and ability to troubleshoot complex IT issues.
  • Strong communication skills, able to explain technical concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
  • Demonstrated ability to evaluate, implement, and scale AI or automation tools.
  • Demonstrated ability to train and support non-technical staff in adopting new tools.
  • Attention to detail and ability to prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Able to manage multiple tasks and deadlines independently.
  • Able to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
