About the Role
Clifford Chance US LLP is seeking a Commercial Pricing Manager – Americas to support its Global Product Groups, focusing on strategic pricing objectives, commercial standards, and pricing governance. This role involves managing billing rates, alternative fee arrangements, and profitability evaluations for legal matters.
Responsibilities
- Work as part of the global pricing team aligned to the Global Product Groups, delivering commercial matter pricing support to partners.
- Act as a trusted advisor to US partners to formulate pricing, develop negotiation strategies, and support pricing negotiations.
- Identify opportunities to improve commercials on current work types and matter opportunities.
- Produce up-front and mid-matter pricing models and negotiation strategies, providing support throughout the pricing process.
- Deliver pricing support, commercial insights, and analysis with a focused, coordinated, and consistent approach.
- Work with Partners to increase the variety of alternative fee arrangements offered to clients.
- Undertake internal matter pricing review benchmarking.
- Coordinate local pricing committee and submit proposals to local and global pricing committees.
- Ensure adherence to the Firm's commercial standards and pricing governance.
- Contribute to governance tools and processes in line with market developments.
- Collaborate and support regional and global pricing teams, acting as an active contributor to international pricing initiatives.
- Collaborate with various departments such as Business Development, Finance, and other Business Professional functions.
- Raise commercial awareness with partners and influence their pricing decision-making on strategic fee deals.
- Deliver commercial awareness training to fee earners and Business Professionals.
Requirements
- 5+ years of relevant experience in pricing in a professional services firm or law firm preferred.
- Must have experience in scenario modelling/compiling pricing proposals and understanding the levers to deliver client value and commercially viable pricing.
- Must possess a strong understanding of the fundamental elements of pricing.
- Must have a global mindset and perspective.
- Proven track record of developing advisory relationships with key stakeholders and senior leadership.
- Must be able to work with large volumes of data and possess advanced proficiency in Excel.
- Must be commercially astute and a strong negotiator.
- Must be comfortable working in a fast-paced and growing environment, surrounded by strong and demanding personalities.
- Facilitate making effective decisions using sound judgment.
- Ability to work under pressure and prioritize competing demands to meet deadlines.
- Excellent organizational and client service skills.
- Strong attention to detail, problem-solving, and analytical skills.
- Possess excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Ability to collaborate with other colleagues within a global, matrix organization.
- Must be able to adhere and comply to the Firm's Agile Working Policy which requires employees to work from the office at least three days each calendar week.
