About the Role
Owns the strategy, design, and delivery of the Scene+ engagement program for Scotiabank clients, utilizing loyalty as a commercial lever to drive profitable client behaviors and monetize Scotiabank’s position in the Scene+ ecosystem. Accountable for the commercial return on loyalty investment, balancing client value, partner value, and bank economics while ensuring compliance with regulations and policies.
Responsibilities
- Build and own a multi-year Scene+ engagement strategy for the Scotiabank client base, linking loyalty mechanics to profitable client behaviors and P&L impact.
- Define target behavior hierarchy and select appropriate loyalty levers to influence each behavior.
- Design earn, bonus, accelerator, tiering, gamification, and redemption mechanics, including economics, eligibility, and guardrails.
- Segment the client base and set differentiated engagement strategies for various client groups.
- Own the loyalty engagement roadmap from opportunity sizing to post-launch optimization.
- Accountable for the ROI of loyalty engagement investment, including incremental revenue and margin.
- Model and manage offer economics in partnership with Finance and Data & Analytics.
- Set and report the engagement KPI framework and defend results to senior leadership.
- Build and execute a disciplined test-and-learn agenda with incrementality measurement.
- Serve as Scotiabank’s day-to-day engagement lead for the Scene+ coalition and its partners.
- Secure partner-funded and partner-enabled offers, accelerators, and experiences.
- Own and deliver Scotiabank’s contribution to consortium commitments and convert partner audiences into engaged Scotiabank clients.
- Influence the joint marketing calendar, offer inventory, and redemption experience.
- Track partner performance, identify gaps, and lead commercial discussions to address them.
- Lead the design and delivery of loyalty-led campaigns and always-on lifecycle journeys.
- Partner with Marketing, Digital, Channels, and Martech teams for offer deployment.
- Equip business lines with clear loyalty value propositions, client narratives, and enablement materials.
- Translate strategy into executable roadmaps, briefs, and requirements for delivery teams.
- Act as the recognized internal subject-matter expert on loyalty-driven engagement and coalition program design.
- Lead alignment across various departments, driving decisions and resolving issues.
- Maintain an external view of loyalty innovation and translate it into actionable recommendations.
- Prepare and present recommendations, business cases, and performance reviews to senior executives.
- Understand and consider the Bank’s risk appetite and risk culture in daily activities.
- Ensure all initiatives comply with Scotiabank’s Values, Code of Conduct, and relevant regulations.
- Own the control environment for loyalty offers, including terms and conditions and data-sharing agreements.
- Escalate issues, emerging risks, and control gaps promptly and transparently.
- Create an environment that drives high performance, accountability, and continuous improvement.
- Coach, develop, and motivate direct reports.
- Foster an inclusive, collaborative culture aligned with enterprise values and strategy.
Requirements
- 7+ years in loyalty, CRM, customer engagement, cards/payments or growth marketing, including direct accountability for commercial outcomes.
- Demonstrated experience designing loyalty or engagement mechanics that changed measurable customer behaviour.
- Strong commercial and financial acumen: business casing, offer economics, incrementality measurement and ROI defence.
- Advanced analytical capability — comfortable interrogating data, framing hypotheses and working with Data & Analytics teams.
- Proven ability to influence without authority across a complex, matrixed organization and with external partners.
- Excellent executive communication and storytelling skills.
- Experience with coalition, consortium or multi-partner loyalty programs.
- Experience in financial services, retail or a regulated environment.
- Familiarity with personalization, offer decisioning and marketing technology stacks.
