About the Role
The Centre for Criminology & Sociolegal Studies (CrimSL) is seeking an Undergraduate and Graduate Assistant to serve as the first point of contact for students, faculty, and visitors. This role supports the recruitment process for Teaching Assistants and Course Instructors, provides administrative support to the Centre's offices, and assists with general office and event coordination. This is a one-year term, 80% FTE opportunity with a possibility of renewal.
Responsibilities
- Act as the first point of contact for general enquiries.
- Respond to enquiries within the defined scope and redirect as appropriate.
- Coordinate the recruitment and training process for teaching assistants.
- Interpret guidelines to determine the eligibility of graduate students for teaching assistantships.
- Provide detailed information on program and/or course eligibility requirements, procedures, policies, and deadlines.
- Receive and pass on evaluation materials for review.
- Maintain information on digital platforms.
- Check completeness of applications.
- Prepare draft employment letters using templates.
- Collate and organize data for various reports.
- Confirm room bookings.
- Organize materials for workshops, conferences, and/or events.
- Determine logistical details and activities for events and/or programming.
- Arrange catering.
- Book audio-visual and/or computer equipment.
Requirements
- Advanced College Diploma (3 years) or acceptable combination of equivalent experience.
- Minimum two years recent and related administrative experience providing administrative support for an academic program, with some experience coordinating academic recruitment and training.
- Experience with supporting the recruitment process and preparing drafting correspondence, documents, and/or employment letters using templates.
- Experience providing administrative support for undergraduate and/or graduate programs.
- Experience interpreting and applying policies, procedures, and/or collective agreements.
- Advanced skills in Microsoft 365 (Excel, Word, Outlook, Teams, SharePoint and OneDrive).
- Experience navigating and entering data in HRIS and ROSI, or similar HR and student information systems.
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills (verbal and written).
- Excellent time management, prioritization, and organizational skills, with the ability to be an effective team player.
- Attention to detail, especially when working with high volumes and competing priorities.
- Ability to exercise initiative and judgment, organize work and establish priorities in a flexible way, and successfully meet deadlines with competing priorities and interruptions.

Salary/Compensations
- $63,963. with an annual step progression to a maximum of $81,797.
