About the Role
The Canadian Tire FP&A team is crucial for maintaining strong financial performance in a dynamic retail landscape. You will collaborate with the Finance team to understand financial results, provide actionable insights, and influence business decisions.
Responsibilities
- Support the monthly forecasting and annual budgeting process for the SC&T cost centers.
- Analyze transportation and logistics costs, including freight, fuel, and carrier expenses, identifying trends and variances.
- Prepare monthly financial reporting packages with variance analysis (actual vs. budget/forecast) and clear commentary.
- Partner with Supply Chain and Transportation operations teams to understand cost drivers and support decision-making.
- Develop and maintain financial models for transportation network costs, route optimization, and vendor/carrier contracts.
- Track key performance indicators (KPIs) such as cost per unit shipped and cost as a percentage of volume.
- Assist with ad hoc financial analysis and business cases for investment decisions.
- Support month-end close activities, including SC&T cost accruals and journal entries.
- Identify opportunities for process improvement and automation in reporting and analysis.
- Ensure data integrity and consistency across financial systems and reporting tools.
Requirements
- Bachelor's degree in Finance, Accounting, Business, or a related field.
- 2-4 years of experience in financial analysis, FP&A, or a related finance role.
- Strong Excel skills (financial modeling, pivot tables, advanced formulas).
- Experience with ERP/financial systems (e.g., SAP, Oracle, Hyperion) preferred.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to translate data into clear insights.
- Excellent communication skills, with the ability to present financial information to non-financial stakeholders.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to accuracy.
