About the Role

STV's Austin, TX office is seeking a Water/Wastewater Pipeline Engineer/Project Manager to contribute to water and wastewater project development and execution.

Responsibilities

Perform project design engineering, project design staff oversight, quality control, project management, client development, proposal preparation, and sales pursuits for water and wastewater transmission, distribution, and collection projects.
Deliver large and/or multiple projects on time, within budget, and in conformance with contract documents.
Provide effective project management to reduce project delivery costs and add value using proven techniques.
Analyze reports, maps, drawings, blueprints, tests, and aerial photographs for soil composition, terrain, hydrological characteristics, and other topographical and geologic data to plan and design projects.
Assist in the execution of existing backlog and development of new work pursuits.
Function as a team lead for projects, acting as the liaison to internal departments.
Plan, organize, and direct design staff and key field positions.
Execute project designs and oversee construction.
Interface with clients to ensure expectations are identified and carried out.
Be responsible for project safety when part of contract responsibility.
Participate in corporate initiatives to assist in meeting company goals.
Assess project requirements, developing and recommending sound approaches to meet client needs.
Ensure project deliverables satisfy project requirements and schedule.
Determine, monitor, and review project costs, operational budgets, schedules, and staffing requirements.
Manage and enhance project quality by suggesting improvements to team effectiveness and project activities.
Establish appropriate metrics for measuring key project criteria.
Facilitate the creation of communication plans, ensuring appropriate information exchange among stakeholders.
Conduct status review meetings among project team members and clients.
Supervise the work of others when assigned.
Perform other incidental and related duties as required.

Requirements

Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering, Environmental Engineering, Mechanical Engineering or another related field of study.
Registration as a Professional Engineer in the state of Texas.
5 to 12 years of progressive experience on small diameter (less than 24”) and/or large diameter (24” up to 108”) water and sewer pipelines.
Experience with pipeline hydraulics.
Experience mentoring and managing younger staff.
Experience managing budgets, schedules, and client meetings.
Experience leading design tasks.
Demonstrable experience in the design and construction of water and wastewater infrastructure: planning, design, and construction of water and wastewater conveyance design.
Experience working with local municipalities and utility companies.
Ability to utilize computer systems as a tool to effectively manage projects.

Knowledge of scheduling, spreadsheet, document, and database software.
Knowledge of and experience in reviewing and implementing a QA/QC Plan.
Experience in reviewing and overseeing a Document Control Plan, and development/utilization of a Project Procedures Manual.
