About the Role
IFI is seeking to hire a temporary Health Insurance Review Specialist to process a high volume of health insurance policy review requests, obtain and verify insurance policy documents, and conduct comprehensive reviews to determine surrogacy and maternity related coverage.
Responsibilities
- Process a high volume of health insurance policy review requests submitted by surrogacy agencies and Intended Parents (IPs) through Salesforce CRM.
- Obtain and verify insurance policy documents using insurance portals or employer platforms when agencies or IPs are unable to access them.
- Conduct comprehensive review of insurance policy documents, including benefit booklets, Summary of Benefits and Coverage (SBC), and plan summaries, to determine surrogacy and maternity related coverage, exclusions, and other relevant policy limitations.
- Complete Coordination of Benefits (COB) requests and when liens or exclusions are identified during a review, if requested by the agency or Intended Parents (IPs).
- Make outbound verification calls to insurance companies when insurance plan language is unclear and requires further clarification.
- Manage a large volume of email correspondence while prioritizing health insurance verification deadlines, including 5-day, 3-day, and 2-day timelines, with the goal of remaining at least one business day ahead.
- Maintain accurate Salesforce records by documenting case notes, updating statuses, and uploading all relevant insurance documentation to ensure visibility and collaboration across the team.
- Perform all other duties and responsibilities as assigned.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Health Insurance license required.
- Previous insurance benefit verification experience.
- Excellent organizational skills and time management abilities in a fully remote work environment.
- Strong attention to detail with the ability to read and interpret complex insurance language and identify potential risks.
- Excellent written communication and customer service skills to clearly summarize coverage details and communicate findings to clients.
- Proven ability to manage a large volume of time-sensitive reviews independently while consistently meeting internal deadlines.
- Comfortable navigating insurance and employer portals to locate and verify benefit documents.
- Must be a team player who is able to pivot and adapt to continuous changes.
- Proficient in Salesforce, Windows-based systems, Microsoft Excel, and PDF tools.
