About the Role

The Pursuit Manager leads the strategy, planning, and execution of high-profile and complex pursuits, supporting business development and growth objectives. This role drives engagement throughout the pursuit lifecycle, develops value propositions and win strategies, and directs multidisciplinary teams to deliver compelling submissions. Success is measured by pursuit strategy strength, team collaboration, proposal execution, and win rates.

Responsibilities

  • Implement business development and pursuit processes on high-profile strategic opportunities.
  • Collaborate with leaders and teams to develop distinctive value propositions and win themes.
  • Collaborate with teaming partners and subconsultants to develop qualifications for team success.
  • Lead pursuit teams in pre-RFP qualifying activities, including research and tracking client plans.
  • Develop and implement pursuit-specific capture plans, including due diligence, win plans, and SWOT analysis.
  • Plan, organize, and direct all proposal elements, including response planning, reviews, and on-time delivery.
  • Lead and organize interview preparation for winning presentations.
  • Create and modify materials, and write content to effectively communicate services and capabilities.
  • Develop an overall action plan for early client pursuit involvement, including due diligence and competitor analysis.
  • Leverage company-wide networks to identify and showcase unique capabilities and resources.
  • Support account managers and sector leaders in developing client engagement strategies and messaging.
  • Ensure pursuit strategies and materials align with corporate brand standards and messaging.
  • Partner with marketing, communications, and public relations teams for thought leadership and marketing initiatives.
  • Leverage firmwide networks to identify expertise and differentiators for pursuit narratives.
  • Apply creativity in using graphics to improve written communication and provide direction to design teams.
  • Ensure all pursuit documents comply with branding guidelines and client confidentiality.
  • Track and evaluate pursuit performance, including win/loss outcomes and lessons learned.
  • Lead or support post-pursuit debriefs and apply insights for future improvements.
  • Monitor pursuit spending and report variances.
  • Share promotional materials, information, knowledge, and best practices with team members.

Requirements

  • Detail-oriented and organized, with exceptional prioritization skills.
  • Ability to effectively balance conflicting priorities.
  • Exceptional ability to develop win themes and integrate them throughout a proposal.
  • Demonstrated ability to provide critical thinking skills.
  • Ability to effectively communicate with senior management, supervisors, peers, and clients, internally and externally.
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Ability to collaborate effectively as part of a team.
  • Ability to engage with senior management or executive staff as required.
  • Excellent interviewing, written, and verbal communication skills.
  • Strong presentation skills in small or large group environments.
  • Proficiency in presentation support tools (e.g., PowerPoint).
  • Strong knowledge and understanding of marketing and business development best practices.
  • Demonstrated proficiency with web-based tools and Microsoft Office applications, including Outlook, Word, Excel, Teams, Co-Pilot etc.
  • Proficient InDesign and Adobe Acrobat.

Experience Level
