About the Role
The Syracuse City School District is seeking dedicated and diverse educators to partner in achieving its goals of ensuring all students graduate high school ready for college and career. The district serves approximately 19,000 students across 35 schools and programs.
Responsibilities
- Coach basketball at Varsity, JV, Modified, or Unified levels, as Head or Assistant.
- Develop student athletes' skills, discipline, and sportsmanship.
- Foster an environment of maximum participation and enjoyment of play.
- Prepare student athletes for higher levels of competition.
- Emphasize the development of academics, goal setting, teamwork, leadership, and sportsmanship at the high school level.
Requirements
- Possess New York State Coaching Certification.
- Hold a Valid First Aid course certificate.
- Hold a Valid Adult CPR certification.
- Complete the Child Abuse Identification workshop.
- Complete the School Violence Intervention and Prevention workshop.
- Complete the Dignity For All Students Act (DASA) workshop.
- Obtain Fingerprint Clearance.
- Receive a School District Recommendation.
- Pass a fingerprint-based background check (candidate cost: $102.50).
