About the Role

Provides clinical office support to Physicians & Surgeons and performs patient care and administrative duties necessary to deliver quality patient care.

Responsibilities

Checks schedules and organizes patient flow.
Accompanies patients to exam/procedure room.
Assists patients with walking, transferring, and dressing.
Collects and processes specimens.
Performs point of care testing.
Prepares patients for exams.
Assists physicians with various procedures.
Takes vital signs.
Relays instructions to patients and families.
Answers calls and provides pertinent information.
Sends and receives patient medical records.
Obtains lab/x-ray reports, hospital notes, and referral information.
Completes and requisitions forms.
Manages charts to ensure information is completed and filed appropriately.
Enters orders into the electronic medical record (EMR) system.
Prepares prescription refill requests for physician review and approval.
Inventories, orders, or re-stocks medical supplies.
Sets up examination rooms and instruments using proper sterilization techniques.
Maintains logging systems for refrigeration of medications, point of care testing, sterilization processes, and crash carts.
Checks expiration dates on medications and medical supplies and disposes of them appropriately.
Maintains a safe, secure, and healthy work environment.
Complies with personal protective equipment requirements.
Assists in the maintenance of medical charts.
Schedules surgeries/procedures or works with Surgical Coordinator.
Verifies surgery/procedure times with patients.
Prepares surgery/procedure charts, pre-admissions, and consent forms.
Performs proficient phlebotomy duties.
Performs appointment scheduling and registration for patients.
Updates patient demographic and insurance information.
Maintains, adjusts, and confirms patient office schedules.
Checks and verifies insurance information.
Performs and verifies pre-certification for procedures.
Performs other duties as assigned.

Certified Medical Assistant required
BLS through American Heart Association required
