About the Role
As a Designer at depthfirst, you will shape the company's products and brand presence. This flexible role suits individuals strong in product, brand, or both, emphasizing exceptional craft, judgment, and problem-solving for ambitious challenges. You will collaborate with engineers, product managers, and AI researchers to create intuitive security systems, and translate technical concepts into compelling narratives for various communication channels. This hands-on position offers significant ownership in defining product direction, communication strategies, and evolving design language.
Responsibilities
- Design product experiences from ambiguous problem brief through polished execution, helping users understand, investigate, and act on complex code security, transparency systems, and knowledge work.
- Translate complex ideas in AI and security into clear, engaging, and approachable experiences and narratives.
- Create brand work across website, product launches, campaigns, sales materials, events, editorial content, company storytelling, and out-of-home advertising.
- Build and evolve shared product and brand systems to enable rapid, high-quality company progress.
- Prototype and iterate on ideas with appropriate fidelity to support decision-making.
- Collaborate closely with design, engineering, product, research, marketing, and go-to-market teams.
- Contribute beyond primary discipline when beneficial, with support from the broader design team.
Requirements
- A portfolio demonstrating exceptional craft and thoughtful problem-solving in product design, brand design, or both.
- Strong visual design fundamentals and close attention to detail.
- Ability to turn complex or technical ideas into clear, intuitive experiences or compelling visual stories.
- High level of ownership and comfort working through ambiguity.
- Strong collaboration and communication skills.
- 4+ years of experience in product, brand, visual, interaction, marketing, or multidisciplinary design (level and scope can flex based on experience).
- Experience designing AI products, technical tools, or other novel systems where established patterns do not yet exist.
- Experience contributing to a design system, component library, or scalable brand system.
- Ability to prototype in code to accelerate design and development workflows.
- Experience creating work across websites, launches, campaigns, editorial content, events, or customer-facing materials.
- Track record of raising the bar for quality, clarity, and craft.
