About the Role
Vattenfall is seeking a Head of Consenting HUB 1 to lead consenting teams across Denmark, Sweden, and the UK. This role involves people leadership, technical expertise, and strategic influence within the offshore wind portfolio, shaping the consenting function and supporting portfolio strategy.
Responsibilities
- Leading, coaching, and developing a team of Consent Managers across Denmark, Sweden, and the UK.
- Overseeing consenting delivery across the Hub 1 portfolio, including prioritization of activities and allocation of resources.
- Supporting the development and implementation of consenting strategies for major offshore wind projects.
- Providing guidance on complex regulatory, environmental, stakeholder, and commercial challenges.
- Working closely with the Head of Consenting and the Hub 2 leadership team to establish consistent ways of working across markets.
- Contributing to organizational development, succession planning, and capability building within the consenting function.
- Providing consenting input to portfolio strategy, opportunity assessment, and wider business development activities.
Requirements
- Experienced leader thriving in complex, multi-stakeholder environments.
- Proven ability to develop people, build strong teams, and drive collaboration across functions.
- Demonstrated strategic thinking, sound judgment, and ability to create clarity and direction.
- Experience with offshore wind, large-scale infrastructure, energy, or another highly regulated industry.
- Expertise in offshore wind consenting, permitting, or comparable regulatory frameworks.
- Experience with Environmental Impact Assessments (EIA), Habitats Regulations Assessments (HRA), or similar environmental assessment processes.
- Experience developing and implementing strategies within complex regulatory and project environments.
- Experience building productive relationships with regulators, authorities, stakeholders, and project partners.
- Experience leading programs, managing budgets, consultants, risks, and key project milestones.
- Experience supporting consent compliance during construction and operations.
- Ability to engage, coach, and develop specialists, fostering a collaborative, inclusive, and high-performing team culture.
- Comfortable balancing strategic priorities with operational needs.
- Ability to effectively navigate complex stakeholder landscapes to achieve results.
- Experience leading through others, setting clear priorities, and creating an environment for high performance.
- Ability to provide direction, challenge assumptions, and empower individuals.
- Ability to build trusted relationships across projects, functions, and countries.
- Ability to balance environmental, regulatory, project delivery, and commercial considerations.
- Ability to translate complex consenting challenges into practical solutions.
- Career built within offshore wind consenting or a comparable infrastructure environment.
- Readiness to take on a broader leadership role within an international portfolio.
- Experience delivering major infrastructure consent applications.
- Experience leading and developing multidisciplinary teams.
- Strong practical knowledge of EIA and HRA processes.
- Experience managing complex consenting programs, consultants, budgets, risks, and project interfaces.
- Strong stakeholder and regulator management experience.
- Experience working across different phases of the offshore wind project lifecycle or comparable projects.
- Strong strategic, commercial, and organizational judgment within an international and multidisciplinary organization.
