About the Role
CMHA Toronto is seeking a compassionate, self-driven, and collaborative Concurrent Disorder Specialist to join our Mental Health & Justice Case Management (MH&J CM) Team. This role supports individuals living with mental health and addiction challenges who also have involvement with the criminal justice system, grounded in Housing First, harm reduction, and trauma-informed principles.
Responsibilities
- Conduct outreach and assessments
- Provide program and agency orientation
- Deliver compassionate, client centered engagement and interventions
- Support skill development and collaborative goal planning
- Offer resources, information, and advocacy
- Build trusting, respectful, and easygoing working relationships
- Monitor progress, evaluate needs, and provide follow up
- Facilitate individual and group addictions counselling
- Support agency-wide concurrent disorder initiatives
- Consult with staff on addictions related matters
Requirements
- 3+ years in community mental health and addictions
- Strong understanding of Recovery principles & Strengths Based practice
- Knowledge of Trauma-informed Care
- Experience with concurrent disorders, homelessness, and the justice system
- Ability to respond to crises with compassion and sound judgment
- Excellent communication, listening, and interpersonal skills
- Strong organizational skills and self motivation
- Commitment to antiracism and nonhomophobic practice
- Occasional evening availability
- Access to a car + valid driver’s license
- To be eligible for this role candidates will be required to adhere to our COVID-19 policy and provide proof of vaccination.
Skills
- Bachelor's degree in social work, Social Science, or equivalent
- Addictions Diploma/Certificate or equivalent experience
- Second language an asset
- Personal experience with mental health issues, either through self or a loved one, is an asset.

Work Type
- Full-Time Contract (6 Months)

Salary/Compensations
- $32.30 - $35.39 + 4% in lieu of vacation
