About the Role

The Coordinator, Residence Life will support the housing program by developing a supportive, engaging, and inviting residence community. This role assists with programming, student engagement, and the student behavioral management process, acting as a first point of contact for these areas.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the development, implementation, and assessment of Huron's Residence Life Program and residential curriculum.
  • Recruit, train, supervise, and mentor Residence Dons, Residence Council members, and other student leaders.
  • Coordinate educational initiatives, leadership development opportunities, and residence-based learning experiences.
  • Support student wellbeing through proactive community development, conflict resolution, and behaviour management programming.
  • Administer residence policies and support the student conduct processes using educational and restorative approaches.
  • Collaborate with campus partners to deliver programs related to leadership, wellness, inclusion, academic success, and civic engagement.
  • Support residence operations, including move-in, move-out, room changes, and student accommodation processes.
  • Evaluate programs, learning outcomes, and student engagement initiatives to support continuous improvement.

Requirements

  • Completion of post-secondary degree, diploma, or certificate; commensurate experience will also be considered.
  • Minimum of one (1) year of experience working in residence life, housing, student affairs, or a related post-secondary environment.
  • Strong understanding of student development theory, community building strategies, post-secondary residence programming, and student engagement practices.
  • Demonstrated experience with conflict resolution, crisis response, and behaviour management.
  • Excellent communication, interpersonal, and relationship-building skills with a commitment to fostering inclusive communities and supporting students from diverse backgrounds.
  • Strong administrative, organizational, and project management abilities.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office applications (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, and Outlook).
  • Ability to exercise sound judgment, professionalism, and discretion when handling sensitive matters.
  • Flexibility to participate in a 24-hour on-call rotation and work outside of traditional hours, including evenings and weekends.
  • Willingness to live on campus in single-occupancy apartment-style accommodation.
  • A police record check completed from a Canadian Police Information Centre (CPIC), inclusive of vulnerable sector screening, will be required.
