About the Role
The Clinical Research Coordinator collaborates with Investigators and the health care team to assume responsibility for the overall patient management and coordination of several clinical studies for the Drug Development Program at Princess Margaret Cancer Centre. The research nurse will work primarily in the Phase 1 clinical trials group, focusing on pharma-sponsored, cooperative group sponsored, and Investigator-initiated trials.
Responsibilities
- Recruit study participants, including identifying and screening potential subjects and obtaining informed consent.
- Coordinate patient visit schedules according to study protocols.
- Execute all aspects of study visits, including assessing adverse events, monitoring safety, administering medications, collecting questionnaires, and processing/shipping samples.
- Provide clinical care for patients participating in clinical trials.
- Implement and coordinate all aspects of data collection and source documentation per UHN policy and ICH/GCP guidelines.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree or recognized equivalent.
- Current certificate of competence (licensure/registration) from a college legislated under the Regulated Health Professions Act.
- Minimum 3 to 5 years of clinical and/or professional experience.
- Current registration with the College of Nurses of Ontario.
- Registered Nurse with a minimum of 3 years of experience.
- Strong knowledge base in Phase I Clinical Trials.
- Demonstrated knowledge and ability to utilize the nursing process in planning, implementing, and evaluating patient care.
- Evidence of good physical assessment, psychosocial assessment, and patient/family teaching skills.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent interpersonal, verbal, and written communication skills.
- Ability to set priorities and work independently with accuracy in a dynamic environment.
- Attention to detail and meticulous documentation practice.
- Autonomous clinical critical thinking ability.
