About the Role
The Youth Development Director shapes safe, high-quality afterschool and camp experiences that support youth growth, confidence, and well-being. This role ensures program excellence, drives continuous improvement, and builds strong relationships with stakeholders to foster collaboration and program success. The director oversees daily operations, including staffing, training, and curriculum delivery, and partners with senior leaders to expand access and deliver meaningful impact.
Responsibilities
- Hold the team accountable for achieving strategic goals and objectives.
- Model inclusive leadership behaviors and embrace diversity by building strong teams.
- Responsible for hiring, coaching, and managing all direct reports, ensuring alignment with association people practices.
- Conduct check-ins with direct reports to ensure progress, provide coaching, and discuss development opportunities.
- Implement a goal-based leadership approach to support organizational objectives.
- Oversee daily program operations in at least 9 childcare sites, ensuring adherence to health and safety regulations.
- Continuously evaluate program quality, ensuring consistent curriculum delivery and identifying improvement opportunities.
- Ensure program operations comply with childcare regulation standards and Texas Rising Star certification.
- Ensure all program-related paperwork is current, accurate, and submitted timely.
- Adhere to policies and procedures, prioritizing the safety and care of children.
- Oversee summer on-site experiences, coordinate field trip logistics, and manage campaign and fundraising efforts.
- Lead recruitment and retention of children enrolled in programs.
- Ensure new staff have necessary support, guidance, and mentoring.
- Proactively identify opportunities to enhance employee development and staff retention.
- Participate in the development and delivery of staff training.
- Monitor and approve weekly schedules and payroll in adherence with program budgets.
- Actively participate in all aspects of staff development, including team meetings and trainings.
- Serve as a representative of Y, establishing and maintaining positive relationships with principals, parents, staff, participants, and licensing representatives.
- Work collaboratively with colleagues to accomplish collective goals.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- A bachelor’s degree from a four-year college or university is required.
- 3 years minimum of professional childcare experience, including experience supervising others.
- Must be or have the ability to become certified according to HHSC standards.
- Current CPR and First Aid certification or become certified upon hire.
- Required to complete specific online training upon hire.
