About the Role
Transitional Services for New York, Inc. is seeking a Maintenance Technician to perform highly diversified duties including installation, troubleshooting, repairing, and maintaining facilities and equipment. This role supports the achievement of site goals and objectives by ensuring the proper functioning of mechanical, HVAC, plumbing, and structural systems.
Responsibilities
- Plan daily schedule with supervisor.
- Assist with maintaining and keeping facilities clean.
- Perform skilled work in the installation, operation, maintenance, and repair of mechanical, heating, HVAC, plumbing, and structural systems.
- Inspect and ensure the security and operational condition of exit doors.
- Perform weekly and monthly inspections of Fire Alarm systems, sprinklers, and fire suppression systems.
- Perform routine carpentry work to repair or remodel existing structures.
- Empty garbage cans and take garbage to the dumpster.
- Replenish sanitary papers and cleaning materials as needed.
- Contribute to a work environment that encourages knowledge of and respect for diverse cultures and backgrounds.
- Evaluate needs for renovations for apartments being turned over.
- Focus on customer needs and satisfaction, projecting a positive customer service environment.
- Perform basic plumbing work, including repairing pipes, replacing fixtures, and clearing drains.
- Drive staff to job sites.
- Check residence boilers, hot water, and heating systems.
- Comply with OSHA Regulations.
- Perform minor repairs on sinks, showers, toilets, light fixtures, windows, doors, and other building systems not requiring an outside contractor.
- Maintain Agency vehicles.
- Shovel snow, ensure sidewalks are clear of ice, and report unsafe conditions.
- Perform plastering and painting as needed.
- Read Employee Manual.
- Be able to sit or stand as needed.
- May require walking for short periods.
- Be able to reach above shoulder heights, below the waist, or lift as required.
- Perform duties during a declared disaster according to the Disaster Preparedness Plan.
- Attend job and Agency trainings.
- Perform other related duties as required.
- Assume the duties of site Superintendent in their absence.
- Perform on-call responsibilities as needed.
Requirements
- Must have the ability to lift a minimum of 50 lbs.
- Must possess a current valid New York State Driver’s License.
- Must have a safe driving history.
- Be able to pass FDNY tests: OF- S12, S13, S 95, P 99.
