About the Role
MedMe is seeking its first in-house counsel to support its Canadian and US operations. This role will focus on enterprise commercial work, privacy and AI risk, and corporate matters for a venture-backed company. The position is designed as a generalist role where you will build legal playbooks and templates and manage external counsel when necessary.
Responsibilities
- Own contract review, redlines, and negotiation across commercial agreements, enterprise SaaS contracts, vendor agreements, and partnership terms.
- Support corporate matters including governance, entity structure, and other company-level legal needs.
- Manage cross-border legal complexity between Canadian and US systems.
- Support HR on employee-related legal matters and employment law questions.
- Develop and strengthen the legal function's first playbooks and templates.
Requirements
- Approximately 3 years of associate experience.
- Exposure to commercial/contract law, corporate matters, healthcare, technology/AI, and privacy/data.
- Cross-border experience with meaningful exposure to both legal systems.
- Comfortable being the only lawyer, triaging broadly, and knowing when to engage outside counsel.
- Strong contract negotiation skills with experience in commercial agreements.
- Clear communicator able to translate legal risk into plain language for non-legal stakeholders.
- Comfortable in ambiguity and early-stage structure, building processes as you go.
