About the Role

The Merchant Specialist provides merchant client advisory and solutions to address their processing needs. This role proactively identifies opportunities to grow net new business, deepens client relationships, and consults clients on integrating and leveraging the firm's solutions. The individual will serve as the merchant point of contact for relationship management teams and leaders, working across a matrixed organization to deliver responsible growth.

Responsibilities

  • Leverage consultative sales process and knowledge of various industries to identify clients' needs.
  • Recommend solutions that meet clients' needs, focusing on complex opportunities.
  • Achieve sales and revenue goals while balancing operational excellence, risk management, and client experience.
  • Maintain accurate records and adhere to Service Level Agreements.
  • Build meaningful relationships and collaborate with internal partners to provide subject matter expertise on merchant payment processing.
  • Identify opportunities proactively and develop a pipeline for sales opportunities.
  • Act as a champion for clients by connecting expertise across the company.
  • Establish relationships with associations, centers of influence, and vendor partners.
  • Adapt to an ever-changing payment processing environment.
  • Independently identify sales opportunities from the bank’s portfolio of clients.
  • Develop and maintain a strong pipeline.
  • Conduct pre-call planning.
  • Perform client needs assessments.
  • Prepare and present product proposals.
  • Conduct price/cost analysis.
  • Submit implementation documentation.
  • Manage ongoing client relationships.
  • Manage contract renewals.
  • Prospect existing Business Banking clients with merchant services needs.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of Payments industry experience
  • 2+ years of direct sales experience
  • Expert knowledge of Digital Payments/Receivables, Merchant, or Treasury solutions
  • Proven experience cultivating and strengthening client and business partner relationships
  • Demonstrated ability to work independently with minimal supervision toward the achievement of personal and team goals
  • Demonstrated effective communication skills, including written, oral and presentation skills
  • Effective planning, prioritization, and time management skills
  • Ability to quickly learn various product solutions
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Consultative sales experience with Business Banking, Large Corporate, and/or Commercial Banking clients
  • Knowledge of Fiserv systems and products, including Clover
  • Knowledge of the Bank of America Merchant Services platform
