About the Role
As an Access Control Officer at a shelter location, you will help create a welcoming, orderly environment by monitoring entry points, verifying access, and assisting residents, visitors, and staff with professionalism and care. You will maintain a visible presence, communicate clearly, document security-related activity, and help deter incidents.
Responsibilities
- Provide customer service to residents, visitors, staff, and service providers while carrying out site-specific security-related procedures and policies at a shelter location.
- Monitor and manage access to the facility by verifying authorization, screening visitors as required, and maintaining accurate entry and exit records.
- Respond to incidents, resident concerns, and critical situations in a calm, professional, problem-solving manner, following established emergency response procedures.
- Conduct regular and random patrols of designated interior and exterior areas, including entrances, common areas, and the perimeter, to help deter unauthorized activity.
- Document incidents, observations, and access-control activity in accordance with site procedures and promptly communicate relevant information to appropriate personnel.
Requirements
- Be at least 18 years of age for unarmed roles; 21+ years of age for armed roles.
- Possess a high school diploma or equivalent.
- Applicants will be subject to a background investigation in accordance with all federal, state, and local laws.
- Allied Universal will consider qualified applications with criminal histories in a manner consistent with applicable laws.
- Applicants will be subject to a drug screen to the extent permitted by law.
- Licensing requirements are subject to state and/or local laws and regulations and may be required prior to employment.
- A valid driver’s license will be required for driving positions only.
